Kaulder (Vin Diesel) is an immortal witch hunter who has been battling witches for centuries. In the Middle Ages, Kaulder slays the powerful Witch Queen, who curses him with eternal life just before dying. This curse separates him from his loved ones for eternity, which becomes both a gift and a torment.
In modern-day New York City, Kaulder continues his work as a witch hunter for a secret order known as the Axe and Cross, which maintains a fragile truce between humanity and witches. Most witches now live in secret, using magic responsibly, but rogue elements still pose a threat.
When Kaulder’s mentor and friend, Dolan 36th (played by Michael Caine), is attacked, he suspects that something dark is returning. With the help of a young priest (Dolan 37th, played by Elijah Wood) and a good witch named Chloe (played by Rose Leslie), Kaulder discovers that the Witch Queen is being resurrected—and intends to unleash a plague upon humanity.
Kaulder must confront his past, face his cursed immortality, and battle powerful dark forces to stop the Queen once and for all.
The film received mixed-to-negative reviews from critics, who praised some of its visuals and world-building but criticized its plot and character development. However, it developed a bit of a cult following among fans of dark fantasy and supernatural action films.
