Wolf Man (2025) is a gritty horror reboot directed and co-written by Leigh Whannell (of The Invisible Man fame), produced by Jason Blum under Blumhouse, and released by Universal Pictures on January 17, 2025 .
Blake Lovell (played by Christopher Abbott) relocates with his wife Charlotte (Julia Garner) and daughter Ginger (Matilda Firth) to his childhood home in rural Oregon following his father’s disappearance. During their first night, a mysterious creature attacks, infecting Blake with lycanthropy. Trapped inside the house and cut off from help, Blake gradually transforms into a werewolf, forcing Charlotte to decide whether he or the unseen creature is the greater threat.
Production Notes: Initially announced in 2014 as part of Universal’s Dark Universe, the project underwent several changes. After departures of previous director Derek Cianfrance and lead actor Ryan Gosling in 2023, Whannell assumed both roles. Principal photography took place in New Zealand in early 2024. citeturn0search0
